I used to take standardized valerian extract to help with my sleep, but the brand I used and trusted stopped making it. I tried another major brand but found that it does not do a squat for me, even though claimed amount of valerenic acids is higher. This Swisse product seems to help me well to relax and fall asleep. I like the shape of the pills too. They are on the larger side of size but very smooth and elongated, very easy to swallow. Flavor is mild, clearly mostly valerian.

I cannot take anything with melatonin in it. Since my stroke, melatonin wires me. Even though this sleep aid doesn't contain melatonin, it has something in it that can wire me, preventing me from falling asleep. The dose is two large tablets. Also, being over 60, I don't need the extra iron. I'm not sure why iron would be in a sleeping aid anyway. I will continue to buy a different brand by the same name that works well for me.
