Deep, gentle cleaning

10x more plaque removal and healthier gums*

Old habits can be hard to break, except when you're brushing with FlexCare Platinum. Thanks to the AdaptiveClean brush head and pressure sensor that are at the core of our technology, even trouble spots become easy to care for. The bristles of the brush head curves around your teeth and gums for up to 4x more surface contact** and up to 10x more plaque removal. If you're brushing too hard, the pressure sensor makes the toothbrush handle gently pulsate so you can be gentle on your gums.

What's in the box?

  • 1 Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Grey Handle
  • 1 AdaptiveClean Brush Head
  • 1 Charging base
  • 1 Travel Case

AdaptiveClean brush head

Our AdaptiveClean brush head is the only electric toothbrush head that can follow the unique shape of your teeth and gums. With soft flexible sides made of rubber, this brush head can follow every curve. It offers up to 4x more surface contact and up to 10x more plaque removal along the gum line and between teeth. As the brush tracks along the gum line, it absorbs any excessive brushing pressure you might apply so you can be gentle on gums however you brush.

Intuitive pressure sensor

You might not notice if you're brushing too hard, but your FlexCare Platinum toothbrush will. If you apply too much pressure, the intuitive pressure sensor will make the toothbrush handle gently vibrate so you know exactly when to adopt a softer touch. In studies, 7 out of 10 aggressive brushers successfully reduced their brushing pressure thanks to the pressure sensor.

Customized brushing experience

With three intensity settings and three cleaning modes, FlexCare Platinum offers optimal comfort as you get a truly deep clean. If you need to pay extra attention to trouble spots, the three-minute Deep Clean mode delivers exceptional results. Use Clean mode for a superb everyday clean, or White mode for stain removal. Set the intensity to Low, Medium or High according to your personal preference.

Deep Clean mode

Our Deep Clean mode delivers an exceptional clean in hard-to-reach places. The unique motion of the brush head in this mode plus an extended three-minute brushing time makes it the ideal choice when you want to pay extra attention to trouble spots.

Sonic technology

At over 31,000 strokes per minute, next generation FlexCare Platinum delivers a superior clean that you'll both see and feel. The dynamic cleaning action of our sonic technology drives fluid deep between teeth and along the gum line. As your FlexCare Platinum brush gently massages the gums, it stimulates blood circulation and helps to dislodge plaque. You get a powerful yet gentle clean that delivers clinically proven results.

Quadpacer and SmarTimer

FlexCare Platinum offers two timers to help encourage thorough brushing. The Quadpacer interval timer indicates when it’s time to move to another quadrant of the mouth, while the SmarTimer helps you reach the dentist recommended brushing time of two minutes.

About five years ago I purchased a Sonicare Pro Results (HX6950), but the "metal tip" became loose after two years, so I purchased a Flexcare Platinum (HX9140). That one also had the loose "metal tip" after two and half years, so in October 2018 I purchased this current model Flex Care Platinum (HX9150 - 2017 date code). Been using this latest model for almost a month, and I'd say this is the best one yet!Basic Part Info (circa October 2018)Box Part# HX9111/12Handle Info: HX9150 - white/grey handle.NOTE: When you register, you need the info from the "bottom of the handle" and NOT the info from the box. This comes with the "travel charger" HX6100Also comes with (Q1) Adaptive Clean brush head...also comes with a little piece of plastic that fits over the "travel charger" which holds two brush heads.Does NOT come with the UV "Sanitizer" (I now have two "sanitizers" and three 'travel chargers" - am set).100% compatible with the previous "Sanitizers" and similar chargers - even the part numbers are the same.- tried to update this review with a picture of What It Comes With.Does this product work? YES. Night and Day difference in The Chair, with a LOT less time spent with the dreaded Tooth Scraping Tools removing plaque buildup every six months. Downside is that these "handles" seem to wear out after 2-3 years, so it's important to REGISTER the product with Sonicare **within the first 90 days of purchase** as this will extend the manufacturer's warranty from two years to two-and-a-half years.Interestingly enough, the previous Flexcare Platinum had a setting for "gum care" whilst this current version has a setting for "deep clean". I was using up the last of my "Diamond Clean" brushes, and when I switched from the previous "handle" (HX9140) to this current one (HX9150) and used the "Deep Clean" setting, it felt like I had just installed a new brush head. Was thinking of buying a second unit from Amazon when the price was only $100, but I dragged my feet and the price has gone back to $124-ish again. Oh well.Battery Usage?I was told to NOT let it run down all the way (aka: Yellow warning light) as that would (might?) cause the rechargeable to Die that much sooner. So on Handle #3 I will re-charge it when it gets down to One Green Light and see how this one works out.IMPORTANT: Selecting the proper brush head is the most important thing for the individual user. I started off with the little useless brush that came with the Pro Results but switched from that to the "Diamond Clean". Eventually upgraded from that to the "Adaptive Clean" and my results improved. When I was at the dentist recently I learned of a brush head called "C3 Premium Plaque Control'. Since "Plaque Control" is where I need to focus my efforts, figured on buying some. Thankfully, there is this Awesome Web Site (begins with "Ama...") where I can order a four-pack at a great price (less than $10/each!!) and have them... ...by tomorrow no less...Extra Trivia: Seems there is a way to turn off some of the settings/vibrations - check the instructions for more info.

Update to Review

This Sonicare toothbrush is excellent for cheaters. I cheat on my hygienist, and she doesn't suspect. For decades I dutifully flossed and brushed my teeth everyday, perhaps even twice a day. Then I didn't. I don't know what happened, but first went the daily showering. Seriously, Americans shower too much. And we have a drought. Then it was tooth brushing. I slacked. In desperation, I started flossing and Sonic brushing 4 days before seeing my hygienist. I didn't want to fall in her esteem. She always has complimented me for my excellent oral care. What would she think if I was just another bleeding gum? But this Sonicare toothbrush fixed me right up. I still got my free toothbrush and floss and no lecture, just compliments for me. This incentivized me so much that I immediately recovered and starting brushing twice a day again. Nah. Just kidding. But I do love the feeling of relief when I use my Sonicare and clear out a day or two of plaque. Now if there was something as useful for showering...

Original Review
April 25, 2018

This toothbrush is amazing. It is about 100 times more powerful than my 5 year old Sonicare toothbrush, although if you like mild, it was 3 intensity levels and level 1 is identical to my old Sonicare - I tested by pressing on my lip so I know scientifically.

This also has 3 clean levels. Clean, massage and deep clean. Clean is about 30 seconds per quadrant and then it pulses to tell you to move on. Deep clean is a whopping 45 seconds per quadrant. Massage has a totally different feel and is supposed to be gentle on your gums so you can massage them. Don't massage your gums. Just floss and brush.

The reason I bought this toothbrush was because it has a new feature I've never had before in that it alerts you if you press too hard. I have a bad habit of leaning into my brushing and that is terrible for gums. Now if I use too much pressure the brush makes a noticeable sound and feel. It is training me to do a good job using the correct amount of pressure and not be such a lead hand.

I had lost interest in brushing. But now I'm actually eager to use my toothbrush to get that amazing sickly smooth feel on my teeth of extreme clean. It feels like the hygienist just polished them. You will have the best teeth with this brush and super healthy gums which is more important apparently.

I'm thinking about carrying it with me and just brushing my teeth quickly ever hour or two. That seems odd but it feels so good having totally smooth teeth.

I did a test of brushing without flossing and you still need to floss but it got rid of more yucky between teeth stuff than any other toothbrush has ever done.

You kind of have to get this toothbrush. I may buy them for my entire extended family. Especially if it goes on a Lightening Deal again which was the secondary reason I got this new toothbrush.

Don't cheat yourself. You deserve a new toothbrush. And they actually have improved hugely on the old ones.

I gotta go check the prices and order some more. I don't think it's good for children. There is probably a child's version for kids. And puppies are not going to like the sound or feel. But that gives me an idea, maybe I'll use my old Sonicare on the puppies to prevent plaque buildup.

Bought it in May of 2019 and never had any problems with it as of June 2023. The interval buzz to let you know to switch up areas is awesome and helps hit that 2 min mark.
After having my wisdoms removed following a lot of pain, I decided to get more serious about my dental health now that I'm in my later 40's. The use of this brush plus adopting other healthy habits has made a world of difference on my teeth, no more gum bleeding, manageable plaque, minimal cavities. Getting some new brush heads, so decided to comment on the base product. Very very happy with the performance of this Sonicare (Philips Sonicare HX9111/12 Flexcare Platinum)

Love Philips and love this toothbrush but it doesn’t work consistently. When the full program doesn’t work, i have to press the start button again to go through the whole cleaning program. When it works, it works great. Maybe this glitch is why Philips stopped making this model. All in all, i have worked around the problem and i deal with the glitch because when it works, it works great.
