An amazingly fun and versatile set!
I don't know why it's called the "Mission to Mars" - the first things we constructed were a sea serpent and duck. Maybe they are Martian critters.... Anyway, there are an amazing amount of unusual Lego pieces in the set, many that are totally new to me. There are a bunch of projects in the book, but we found ourselves getting easily sidetracked and building our own creations. Half way through the duck-thing we realized it looked like a robot, so built along those lines, only to work on the duck later.The case is also pretty darn interesting - it would have been even more so if it were a giant Lego that could be snapped together. But alas it's just a Lego-inspired case. Also included is the always handy Lego tool.The manual is typical Lego, easy to understand. Some of the colors are very close and we made some minor mistakes a few times since the same pieces are included in different colors. The book has instructions for around half the builds. The rest need to be downloaded. We did not realize this at first, but quickly got the idea when there were around 300 extra pieces! We have to try the flaming drum set next.....Overall one of our favorite Lego sets to date.
