I purchased this from another web site with a special offer. I planned to gift to friend at Thanksgiving to help her with her apple pie prep. We spent over an hour trying to get it to work with no luck and then it died. I emailed the company who, to their credit, replaced it without a problem. The unit I got seemed to be an upgrade (it had a AC adapter which the first one did not have) so I was hopeful. My hope was misplaced. This is truly a poor product without any possibility that I will even try to use it again. I am posting pictures to show just how sad the results were. I tried it on a potato, zucchini and apple and not one of those resulted in anything I could use. So disappointing. I recently purchased something similar, but more manual, called The Heart Peeler and it is a much better alternative. In the end, it ended being more of a time-saver than the Rapid Peeler because it did exactly what it advertised and was easier to clean.

I bought this for my mother. It worked great for about 10 occasions. I kept it clean and maintained. It is only made of plastic. So, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. You wouldn't buy this if you just peeled an occasional potato now and again. But, that's all it can handle. Peeling 10+ potatoes for family meals was too much for it and it wore out. Now it won't peel anything--it just spins.

This is a very attractive, very lightweight, ingenious device. The IDEA of it is great. The execution is quite frustrating. It works really well on hard fruit. It does not work AT ALL on ripe fruit. Soft fruit, like ripe pears,just get pushed off in a messy glop. Hard fruits are great but go through blades quickly. Order extra now - you will need them. And know that you will still have to hand peel the upper and lower fifths of each fruit. Since I have arthritis, I will keep it and know I Will still have work to do.
