Since our 17-year old outdoor propane tank finally bit the dust, as we're selling our home in PA for a condo in VA where outdoor grilling is verboten, I opted for an indoor smokeless grill. This is not the cheapest grill, by far. In fact, even at the sale price at which I obtained it, it was on the high end. But you really do get what you pay for. The grill is simple, easy to assemble and use, and cooks a fabulous sirloin steak. It heats up fast (we go for the highest level), the fan is terrific, and the cleanup and storage are manageable. Two-inch, 8-10 ounce sirloin steaks cook medium-rare in about 16 minutes, 8 minutes per side at 450 degrees. The grill (not the pans or the lid) is the hardest thing to clean, at least by hand, but was easy in the dishwasher as a higher power level. You're not supposed to use it outdoors, but on nice evenings, it's really not an issue (do not store it outdoors), especially if you're eating outdoors.

Ok, it's not an outdoor grill, so don't expect that.

We have a 2nd home which is a 2nd floor condo; outdoor grilling not allowed.

Used this grill for the first time: 1) cooked marinated shrimp; came out with grill marks; set the temp to 450; NO smoke; used the glass lid cover to speed up cooking time; shrimp did not stick. Clean up less than 5 minutes for all parts: water basin; liner/drip pan; grill. After all parts had cooled, i put wet paper towels on the grill and the liner pan to make clean up easier and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

For what it is, I'll be buying one for our main house to cook burgers/brats/shrimp/shaved ribeye for tostadas,quesidillas, etc.

So, super easy clean-up/no smoke/ no cooking odors in the house. This is perfect!!!!!!!

Without changing our recipe, we made the best hamburgers ever. Fish and steak came out deliciously too. We haven't had a grilling failure yet.

The Hot Shot is beautifully engineered. The pieces lift out in layers and fit perfectly. There are no nooks and crannies that you can't get at to clean like with most counter-top grills.

OK, I was skeptical. I was looking for a grill that would recreate the table top experience of Korean BBQ or Yakiniku without stinking up the whole house. Well, it worked.

It got up to temperature - on a 20 amp circuit - in 5-6 minutes and settled in (even temp over the whole grill) @ 450'F. at 7-8 minutes. I Grilled up two servings of marinated pork loin and marinated venison. Much better results with the flat griddle (not the perforated one) . Good char marks (the sugar in the marinade probably helped) and cooking time was almost comparable to charcoal. The temperature held at about 400'F during cooking with the griddle, but only about 340'F with the perforated grill. Zero smoke, some smell of char, but nothing that didn't dissipate in a few hours. All temperatures taken with a laser thermometer

Some caveats and helpful hints:

Wash the griddle immediately after use. it is the smelly thing, so clean it. Easy clean up.
I was using very lean cuts of meat. fatty meats are sure to smoke more.
This thing only has a 1200 watt heating element. If you try to cook a thick piece of meat (like a burger), the temperature will probably drop pretty fast and will not recover. You could probably compensate by moving it to different parts of the grill, but I will never find out. I'm only using this for yakiniku.
This thing is made by a no-name company in China - so there are probably some QC issues. If you get a lemon - send it back and try again. I was actually impressed by it's engineering.

Again , I am ONLY recommending this for flash charing very thin cuts of meat. It will never replace an outdoor BBQ for anything else. No "five star" review because I rarely give five stars to anything. and I'm not a paid shill.

I've only used this indoor grill twice now, but am I ever impressed! So far there's been no smoke at all, and cleanup is a breeze. Space is limited where I live, even the sink is small, so cooking has been only in a pan on a burner plate, or in the microwave. It does say to at least partially cook some foods first, like chicken, but I grilled fresh chicken legs with no problem at all. I use cooking spray on the grate. I haven't used the griddle yet, but look forward to it. Everything washes up easily, so I'll be able to use this grill often. I can't wait to finally be able to have kabobs! ☺️

UPDATE... I love this indoor grill even more! I've used the griddle many times now, often to cook fish. No sticking AT ALL, and super easy clean-up. Also, to fry up some sliced canned potatoes or brussel sprouts. I still mostly use only cooking spray, but I love sesame oil, so occasionally I use that, too.
