Welder Approved!
I am a Welder using heavy welding equipment and tools for the last 6 months. This watch is so hard to break. The sparks and heat do not destroy the plastic or break the computer inside. I also work with water and oils and this watch still holds up too with its 100m design. Need to sign off work papers outside? Good thing you got the date and time to write down. There is also a stop watch and counter I use to count weld cool downs and machine start up. The only thing this watch doesn’t have is a compass. That would be usefull for surfing or when I’m on the boat. Watch holds in ocean/sand obviously.

I think over the years I've bought this exact watch some 4-5 times, mostly due to giving my watch away to others, losing one, or in ONE situation actually having the strap break.

Love the timer feature and being able to tell what day, month, and date it is at any given time. Waterproofing is excellent for when I've gone swimming and needed to keep track of laps or just out and about in nature. Cheap enough to where I'm not concerned about it getting banged up a bit living an active lifestyle. Great watch.

TL;DR: This is a solid, useful watch. Buy it.

I've done the smartwatch thing with a couple of different models, and I just don't get enough value from the information they offer to justify their extraordinary cost or the considerable trouble of keeping them charged (the latter being my main complaint).

This humble Casio watch is the perfect answer to all that. It tells me the current day, date, and time at a glance. If I need to see this information in a dark room, there's a dedicated button for that. That's all I need from a watch. I particularly like this watch's size. It's small enough that it doesn't get caught on cuffs or pockets or backpack straps (usually). I do lots of outdoor stuff, so I needed a watch that doesn't mind getting wet, and this watch seems to do just fine in and under water.

I do kind of wish it would automatically change to and from Daylight Saving Time, but if running the time forward or back twice a year is as demanding as this watch gets, I'm certainly not going to whine about that.

So I've been very pleased with this purchase. If you're looking for a simple, rugged, watch that just lets you live your life without giving it much thought, I think you'll be pleased with it too.

I try to live simply, and this is the watch for me. It checks all the boxes: cheap, durable, accurate, no excess features, long battery life. Bought one roughly 4 years ago and rarely took it off. It survived showers, pools, and summer vacations to the beach. The band broke 2 years in, but I liked the watch enough to buy a better band as a replacement.
The watch broke yesterday when I was SCUBA training. The watch advertises water resistance up to 100m of depth, so I figured 12 ft down in a pool would be fine. Water leaked into the LCD, making the watch very hard to read. While the internals of the watch were still running, I figured it was a matter of time now that the casing was compromised.
In all, its fine for occasional use on the surface of water, does not withstand any diving pressure, and you'll likely need to upgrade the band. All of those considered, I'm still going back for my second watch.

Bought this 2 years and 8 months ago and it's still great. In that time, it's drifted 27 seconds (e.g. at 8:00:00 it now reads 8:00:27). **EDIT** This drift is inaccurate. Updated at bottom of review **END EDIT**. For me, that's not a big deal, but figured I'd mention it. I wear the watch face-side down on my wrist, but it only accrued one mild scratch in all that time. Nothing terrible. I bought this watch because it had 3 things; the 24-hour time, the day of the week, and the date on a single screen. It's the only watch I've found that had all 3 of those. To find all 3 in a highly rated and CHEAP watch? I bought it in a second and haven't regretted it since. I actually returned a better and more expensive watch (Casio DW5600E-1V) before eventually finding and loving this. I especially love that it orders the date in Year-Month-Day format. I live in the US where Month-Day-Year is the norm, but I also work with thousands of computer files where the best way to organize files by date is with a Year-Month-Day system (e.g. 221102 for November 2, 2022). It's just a little nothing thing, but I love this watch for it.

I should note that the watch band snapped off back in August, 2 years and 5 months after getting the watch. That's happened with other watches with resin bands that I've owned, always around the 2-3 year mark. I heard it's from sweat or showers hardening the resin or something. That could make sense as I never take mine off except when I'm rock climbing. Regardless, I just grabbed a cheap 18mm silicone watch strap for 12.99 and it's been fine ever since (bought silicone because I heard they don't snap. I'll update this if it ever does).

I plan to use this watch forever. If it breaks, I'll buy a new one for the price of a burger + onion rings. I've gone through a dozen watches over the past 25 years or so, but this is the first one that I loved. It has everything I want without a bunch of other useless expensive crap that I'll never use (looking at you, altimeter; and that's coming from a hiker). It's cheap, reliable (anecdotally), has a fast band replacement process, no feature-bloat, has large text, and is DECENTLY water resistant. The only downside is that the watch isn't 200m water resistant. If it was, it'd be perfect for me. Anyway, I don't go surfing/swimming with it, but it hasn't fogged up after 2+ years of showers, rain, sweat, etc. If you want a cheap watch, I recommend this one (unless you're an avid surfer). Or if you're like me and willing to fork over $100 for a watch, maybe buy this anyway. It's certainly much better than the $21 price-tag would have you believe.

**EDIT** 12/12/23
I made the above review over a year ago, but I realized that I couldn't verify that the 27 seconds of drift was accurate. Well, I decided to run a little experiment over the past year and record the drift every few months (basically whenever I remembered I was even doing this) and it turns out that the drift WASN'T accurate. After a year, my watch drifted 58 seconds. To get that 27 second value, I might have reset my watch whenever we had daylight saving time or something, hence the inaccurate drift. Anyway, I included the recorded values below (MM/DD/YY format) in case someone is interested. Also, I used time.gov for the baseline comparison.

12/11/22 9:55PM - 0 seconds fast
01/19/23 6:18PM - 5 seconds fast
02/22/23 12:48PM - 10.5 seconds fast
04/15/23 9:00PM - 18.5 seconds fast
05/08/23 8:22PM - 22 seconds fast
06/27/23 12:52PM - 30 seconds fast
09/06/23 8:15PM - 41 seconds fast
11/05/23 7:18PM - 51 seconds fast
12/11/23 9:55PM - 58 seconds fast

This basically means my watch drifts by a little more than 1 second every week (1sec/~6.29days). For my needs, that's fine. I'm not doing anything in my daily life that requires long-term precision to the second, and I have to reset it every so often anyway for the aforementioned daylight saving time, so I don't mind at all. Other than that, the watch still works great (nearing 4 years now) and the "new" silicone watchband is still great too (although it hasn't hit that 2-3 year breakdown point yet). So, all in all, still happy with it.

I've been wearing eyeglasses for a few years now and i find increasingly difficult to read the numbers of my other watches without them. After doing an in-depth research on YouTube, I bumped into this model and decided to give it a try. Reviews are overwhelmingly good, and I was lucky to catch it with a 40% off the regular price. I ordered it without thinking twice and got it delivered the next day.

If you are in the market for a compact digital watch and you like the classic style of the 91W and A158W, but you have trouble reading such small numbers, the 800W is a model you should consider. It would also make a great first watch for kids, students on a budget and as a daily wear watch for young professionals and even for public servants/law enforcement/first responders.

The digits are big enough to read with the naked eye, specially when it's dark. The back light illuminates the whole screen reasonably well, and it comes in a light green color which is brighter than the traditional yellow incandescent back light. The display shows the information in a very clean , easy to read layout: time, year-month-date, and day of the week.

Very simple, easy to use, compact, comfortable to wear, and also the strap is extra long, so if you have a thicker wrist, this one is going to fit you much better than the 91W.

IMO this watch is the epitome of simplicity, functionality, comfort , precision and great price. Few things offer such a great value for money than this Casio 800W.
