So they suck you in for a low fee, and then charge extras for state, and efiling and anything out of the ordinary. And there support is worthless, don't be sucked in by HR Black, try Turbo Tax or Tax Slayer, must better program and not all the extra fees

I have used H&R block for three years, but this is the first year I got my own (before I was using one of the five free ones through the deluxe version on my aunt and uncles software purchase). I got the BASIC because I don't own a house, investment properties, stocks, etc. It was $19.99 initially, but after filing my federal taxes, it said I had to buy the state for $39 and if I didn't, everything would get delayed and I wouldn't be able to e-file my federal taxes (I'd have to print and mail them in) and file my state later through some other method. I was in a corner at this point because I had already bought the software, had no printer, and spent 2 hours on my federal. I would have also had to purchase the state program through H&R block since I had already done my federal using them. I thought I had done my research, but this was a complete surprise add-on and it made me mad, but again, nothing I could do but buy it. So after filling out my state, I found out if I wanted to e-file, I had to pay an additional $19.99 (I thought the $39 purchase I just made included this fee but apparently not). I could have chosen to send in my state taxes, via snail mail, but again, no printer, so I gave my card number YET again. All in all, I have mixed feeling. It was a very easy and helpful program to use, but the hidden fees really ticked me off.
