Designed for the best-tasting brewed beverages

For the best-tasting brewed drinks, the Water Boiler first dechlorinates the water by boiling it before cooling it to your selected Keep Warm setting (160°F, 175°F, 195°F, or 208°F).

Convenient Electric Dispensing System

Hot water is available at your selected Keep Warm temperature with the push of a button, any time of the day.

LCD Display

Shows actual water temperature at all times.

Quick Temp Mode

Ideal for filtered or bottled water, this mode heats the water directly to the selected Keep Warm temperature (160°F, 175°F and 195°F only) without reaching a boil. The water will reach the selected Keep Warm temperature quicker than regular mode. Other benefits include reduced steam and reduced energy use.

208°F

Brew black, herbal, pu-erh, mate and rooibos tea; prepare coffee and instant noodles.

175°F

Brew various green teas (bancha, houjicha, genmaicha), white tea and matcha.

195°F

Brew oolong tea; reduces energy consumption by 27-28% compared to 208°F keep warm.

160°F

Brew high quality green tea (gyokuro) or delicate teas.

Safety Auto Shut-off

A safety function that automatically shuts off power to the heater in order to prevent damage from overheating. The display will show 'HH' to alert that Automatic Shut-Off has been activated. The following conditions may cause activation:

When the boiler is plugged in without filling the Inner Container with water; when the water level is lower than the Refill Line and when boiling has been attempted; when the unit is empty or the upper lid is left open, and when hot water is poured in immediately after unit was plugged in.

Product Description

Zojirushi Micom water boiler and warmer has a micro computerized temperature control and a one-touch electric dispensing system. It has four keep warm temperature settings: 160, 175, 195, 208 degrees F. This unit displays actual water temperature at all times. It is also has an energy saving timer function (6 - 10 hours) and easy-to-hear sound indicator to alert completion of boiling process or low water level. Quick temp mode heats the water directly to the selected keep warm temperature without reaching a boil. The water will reach the selected keep warm temperature quicker than regular mode. Other benefits include reduced steam and reduced energy use. This mode should be used when DE chlorination is not necessary, such as when using bottled or purified water. To activate, press the reboil/quick temp button; the boil light blinks. The dechlorinate mode reduces chlorine and musty odors from tap water by extending the boiling time.

Bought this for my elderly parents back in 2021. It is very convenient for them to just pour water into it and wait for it to boil. I do not want them to use the stove so much these days. They use this daily and it is consistent and does what it needs to. A previous Zojirushi I bought for them in 2015 lasted for about 6 years before it cracked and water leaked out. Hoping this one will continue to work for a few more years before I need to replace it.

Just remember to descale it if you see any sediment on the inner tank.
I wish it was detachable and for example its water dispenser could work without the unit being plugged into a power outlet (backup battery maybe?) to serve a party table but well...

Amazon discontinued the vacuum insulated Panasonic water boiler so this was the choice after a power surge burnt out my Panasonic. I still hate the extra pump safety button requirement for my retirement home where no kids are allowed but the quick boil feature will save power and steam and I needed the 10 hour timer option. The obnoxious little tune it plays when done after the power goes out can be turned off so just a beep is heard but you have to silence the tune each time you have removed power. I added extra insulation around it and I keep a kitchen towel over the top to reduce wasted heat entering the room. I expect the liner to not rust and make scale easy to flake off on its own. For 5 stars they will have to use more insulation and give a way to over ride that stupid safety button before pumping. EDIT - TEN MONTHS LATER - Still good, no rust. Lots of older reviews here from a time before they upgraded their materials. I just let the scale build up until it gets thick and flakes off. It has no flavor and is not worth the time to clean as long as you leep the pump screen cleared. I never fill mine more than half way, enough for my needs. It is placed where the spout is over the sink for washing dishes. YOU CAN HEAT CANNED FOODS TO FULLY READY TO EAT if you gently lower the can into the chamber with label removed. I heat my morning sausage gravy can in it at the moment I have finished making coffee and lower the temp to 160 for the rest of the day. That literally uses no power at all and prevents the heat from entering the room as it cools from 210 to 160 by heating the can. Very efficient and eliminates need for a hot water heater in the home except for bathing.

It removes the dependency on the action of boiling water as a requirement for hot beveraging. That high cost of action is negated by the instant access to water at post boiling temperature on demand. When removing this obstacle, there is a higher tendency to readily take full advantage of hot beverage enjoyment.

AS A daily coffee drinker
I WANT to have hot water at the ready
SO THAT I can quickly and easily create coffee as needed.

So things to consider...
1 - You really do want to use clean, either purified or preferably distilled water. Otherwise you'll end up with gross residue inside the boiler.
2 - It sings to you. I'm okay with this since my microwave, rice cooker, washer, and dryer already do.
3 - It can be adjusted to be tea hot or coffee hot, but those are often not the same. So it unfortunately requires you to be intentional. I'm a regular coffee drinker more than a regular tea drinker. I have it on coffee hot (208 degs F). When I want tea, I pour it into a separate pourer to rest before I pour to steep the tea.
4 - It is very easy to use, especially if you use clean water as in #1 above. Little to no maintenance required.
5 - It can speed up cooking when you need to boil water to prep, its already mostly there.
6 - Cup noodles whenever you want it. Does not work for lasagna.
7 - I did not haiku above because the product is Japanese, I haiku'd because I felt like haiku'ing.

Had this for awhile now and wanted to really break it in before I reviewed it.
My favorite safety features: magnetic power cord at base easily detaches and the locking feature that prevents accidentally releasing water. The lid can also be removed but be careful because it traps steam. The vent on the top of the lid also releases steam that’s hot enough to strip the finish off my wood cabinets over time. It’s countertop so fits perfectly under the cabinets but sometimes I forget to move it so the steam doesn’t damage the cabinets. It makes a cute chime when the water is ready. Sounds simple but it made a huge difference when I first heard it. I hate annoying beeps and sounds. Once the water gets to desired temp, I strongly suggest unplugging it after use. Water stays hot for hours and quickly reheats. The swivel base is another feature that I didn’t know I needed and love. The big, clear numbers on the water gauge is great! I just love this “toy”. It’s a must have in my kitchen.

I've thought about getting a water boiler for a long time, and took the opportunity when my kettle died. The Zojirushi is everything I expected it to be, but you need to consider how you'll use a water boiler.

The Zojirushi turns on as soon as you plug it in. It'll boil the water and then keep it at your chosen temperature until you unplug it or set the timer to turn it off for a period of time. That's super convenient, but wasteful if you leave it going for 12 hours without using any hot water. I've put it on a smart plug with a timer. It turns on in the morning to boil the water, and turns off after a period of time. If I need water later in the day, I just turn the plug on. Without the smart plug, the Zojirushi (or any water boiler) wouldn't make sense for me.

Things I like about the Zojirushi:

- The magnetic power cord that's super easy to plug into the boiler (kind of like Apple MagSafe).
- The sturdy handle that makes it easy to lift.
- The base that enables you to turn the boiler around in a circle without having to lift it.
- The four keep-warm temperature settings.
- The big window that tells you how much water is left.

My only concern is that others have talked about this particular boiler having a short life span due to the interior rusting. I wonder if that's related to the quality of their tap water. Hopefully I can avoid it through regular cleaning.
