About this item
- CREATE HOMEMADE ICE POPS: Make yourself a sweet treat reminiscent of the ice cream truck—but do it without leaving the comfort of your home. These groovy ice pop molds create the classic shape that call to mind warm summer afternoons and the sweet sound of the neighborhood ice cream truck. Share these memories with your loved ones as you enjoy a homemade frozen treat. Simply pour the mixture into the molds and freeze for the easiest, grooviest afternoon snack ever.
- UNIQUE DRIP-GUARD HANDLE: Reduce sticky hands and lost juice with these unique drip-guard handles. The base creates a small bowl around the center stick, which collects any drips from melting ice pops. The drip-guard snaps over the plastic mold while freezing, so the ice pop is always contained within the bowl for a mess-free frozen treat.
- BASE HOLDS POP UPRIGHT WHILE FREEZING: Sturdy base does not wobble or tip in the freezer, ensuring minimal disruption during freezing time. Plastic molds fit securely into inserts in the base to keep the pops upright as they freeze. Once frozen, individual molds can be removed from the base to make it easier to pull the frozen ice pop out of the mold. Run the mold under warm water for easier release.
- MAKE A VARIETY OF FROZEN TREATS: Mix and match your favorite fruit juices, yogurt, pureed fruits and vegetables, leftover smoothies, ice cream, and more for unique treats every time. Mix up your favorite flavor combinations then pour the liquid into the molds, set in the base. Once filled, gently insert the sticks into the liquid, and freeze until solid. Each mold holds 4 fluid ounces.
- DIMENSIONS & CARE: 6. 75" L X 6. 25" W X 7. 75" H; dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. Made of BPA-free plastic.

1 caveat: measure your freezer space. These molds stand taller than the smaller 2 oz. popsicle molds. There is only one shelf in my freezer that I can put these on. Make sure you have the room in your freezer. Another consideration is that with molds where you are not using wood sticks, it's pretty hard to freeze them and lay them flat in a drawer. You can, but then, you won't be able to refreeze another batch until you're done eating them. If you want to make a freeze a bunch over a few days, get the kind of molds that use the wooden sticks. Of course then you have to store them IN something, which means using plastic bags and I don't like to do that.
Cleaning these is pretty easy. I use a bottle brush with fairly soft bristles.
Unmolding the frozen pops: Heat some water for 2.5 minutes in a tall glass measuring cup or a tall jar - where the height of the container is a bit taller that the mold and stick. Hold the frozen pop by the stick and turn upside down into the water for about 15 seconds. Then check to see if it's ready to come out by slightly twisting the handle a bit to see if it will give. If not, put it back in for 5 for seconds and try again. Don't put too much pressure on the plastic handle. It feels sturdy to me, but you wouldn't want to break it.
Recipe for Strawberry Yogurt smoothie or popsicles: 10 oz. yogurt ( I use Whole Foods 365 organic whole milk plain, but you can switch it up. I don't like the powdery texture that happens with Greek Yogurt); 3/4 c. Whole Foods 365 organic almond milk; 1/2 tsp. vanilla (I use Nielsen Massey vanilla); 4 packets Organic Stevia; 2 cups frozen strawberries. If your strawberries are not very sweet or you just want to kick that flavor up a notch, add 2 tablespoons strawberry jam or strawberry spread to the container before blending). Delicious! It will make enough for about 4 of these Tovolo popsicle molds.
I saw someone post an amazing popsicle recipe and I knew I had to buy a mold post haste to try them out. After a bit of research, I settled on this one. The pops themselves come out beautifully shaped with ridges on the top. The bottom has a reservoir that is great for catching dripping liquids.
I really like the design of the everything as well. When I make the popsicles, you put the molds in the base first which fit nice and securely. You then put the top on and hear a satisfying click to know they are on securely. Because they are securely closed, you don't actually need to put them in the freezer on a base (though I still recommend doing so). Once they are frozen, I like to take them off of the base, put them in the freezer door and put the base by my sink to hold the molds as I go through them.
This product is surprisingly compact, sturdy and makes a good popsicle (assuming you can mix the right ingredients). I suppose the only downside is you trade larger popsicles for fewer per batch.
These pops are made of BPA-free, sturdy plastic. With the grooves, I thought it would be difficult to remove the pops, but once the mold is dipped in hot water, the pop comes out easily. It even stayed on the stick! I hate the kind of pop molds where the stuff stays inside the mold and the stick comes out naked.
Another plus is that the base holds these pops very well. I have to take them down to the basement to the big freezer and it is easily done without worry of spillage. The combination cap and stick work well. The only quibble I have with the cap and stick being one piece is that when you go to eat the pop, the bottom of it is in the cap and you need a spoon to dig out the last two bites.
I bought two sets of these and this summer, we will be enjoying healthy frozen treats. We made nutella fudge pops for the first batch. Other batches planned include some with chopped fruit. When peach season rolls around, we'll be making peaches and cream pops. Just about any combo of yogurt and fruit also works well.
