Where have you been all my life!?
I don't write too many Amazon reviews but this one deserves my attention. I saw someone at a brewery using this item to combat fruit flies and they were raving about it. I ordered the smaller version and just found my first victim. We had 2 very annoying flies buzzing about and even my cat Jinx couldn't catch them ,but she sure knew they were around. I just saw my first victim on the kitchen sink and got out my zapper racket and *ZAP!!!!!*....HE GONE!!!! VICTORY!!!!

I've purchased four zapper rackets from Amazon so far:

Elucto 2-wire / 2xAA battery / 3200~3500 volts
Black Flag 3-layer / 2xAA battery / 2750 volts
Lanpuly 3-layer / USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery / 4000 volts
ZapIt ! 3-layer / USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery / 4000 volts

The Rechargeable Zap It! is by far the best, due to the grid design and higher voltage. Here's what I've learned so far:

3-layer is better than 2-wire
Examples of 2-wire, single-layer designs include Executioner and Elucto. To be zapped, the bug must touch 2 wires. It works well for larger bugs but in my experience, small gnats pass right between the wires with no effect.

The more common 3-layer design has an inner "hot" grid separated from the outer "ground" layers with plastic spacers. To be zapped, part of the bug has to go far enough in the mesh to touch the center grid. You'd think it would be less effective… but in my testing, it works equally well on large bugs … and much better on small flying gnats.

USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery is better than AA battery
Zapper rackets are usually powered by two AA batteries or a single USB rechargeable lithium ion battery. AA battery powered zappers are rated between 2750 & 3500 volts while USB rechargeables can go as high as 4000 volts. It’s a difference you can see and hear … and the higher voltage improves the chances of a kill.

ZapIt ! USB Rechargeable is the best I've tried
One way to test a zapper racket is to press it against the foliage of a plant with small leaves. It shows how sensitive it is (how many sparks) and how powerful it is (how loud are the cracking sounds)

Lanpuly was the first 4000 volt, USB-rechargeable racket I purchased. Doing the foliage test, it didn't work nearly as well as the Rechargeable ZapIt!

The voltage is the same so what's different? It turns out the internal gaps between the 3 layers in the Lanpuly are wider … so bugs are less likely to touch the center layer. The ZapIt! grid spacing is closer and in the foliage test, it produces far more and louder sparks.

For use on bugs, it's also the best I've tried. As an example of the power and sensitivity, I placed the face of the Rechargeable ZapIt! on a silverfish on the carpet. The result was a loud display of sparks like the 4th of July ! The silverfish was vaporized … and the snapping, crackling sounds were so loud that they startled my wife in the next room !

There are three sizes: Mini 16" long x 6.3" wide / Medium 18" long x 7.6" wide / Large 19" long x 8.3" wide. I've tried the Medium and Large and recommend the Medium as the slimmer grip makes it easier to snap your wrist back and forth while also having to hold the power button down with your thumb. There's no reason to get the Mini in my opinion.

Note: Amazon also sells ZapIt! rackets powered by 2xAA batteries that are only rated for 3500 volts. Unless USB charging is not available, that option is not recommended.

Tip: an iPad USB charger charges faster than a smaller iPhone "cube" charger

I hope this information is helpful !

Product worked great for several months. However after ~60 wasp kills, the activation button began to fail. While holding the button, the power indicator light would flicker. You can slide your finger around on the button and sometimes that would help, but not always. When battling wasps, "sometimes" isn't good enough. I saw another reviewer mention the use of a toothpick under the activation button to provide consistent power. Sure enough, took the handle apart, the back side of the activation button has a hole that fits a toothpick perfectly. Trimmed one up and stuck it in, since then the swatter has been cooking up wasps without issues.

We've been battling fruit flies and the occasional house fly brought in by the dogs for a while now. I've tried traps, sprays and standalone bug zappers without the full desired effect. Those flies just keep laughing at me with their persistent existence. Finally, I decided to order the zapper racket thinking what I assumed was just an as-seen-on-TV gimmick couldn't do any better than the other methods I've tried. Oh how I was wrong to judge this ingenious and delightfully deranged device!

It's lightweight and simple to use. I've giddily gone around the house finding the hotspots of winged invasion to cut through them with a popping so delightful I think I might like ASMR. I've learned a lot about myself while using this... like, am I deranged? Have I been harboring blood lust this whole time? Once I've been victorious (and I WILL be victorious) over the flies, what will remain of my humanity when it comes time to put down the racket?

Precious free time during the work day has been consumed by prowling the house armed with my zapper racket. Every pop and snap is followed by an Emperor Palpatine-style cackle as I teach these pests the power of the dark side. I've crossed a line and there is no return.

In summary: buy this thing! It's worth the minimal cost and actually works.

This mostly stuns flying bugs, it doesn’t kill them, but that’s good enough for me!

I use a combination of this electric tennis racket and a non-electric bugcatcher called a BugZooka to stun bugs for capture and release respectively, without getting stung/attacked. This electric tennis racket will kill smaller bugs like fungus gnats and fruit flies (which is mainly all I use it for) and while it will stun larger insects like yellow jackets, if you take too long to capture them, they will be very angry when they wake up, so move quickly!

I am ordering my second one of these now and the last one I bought was in 2017 and it only died because I bent the metal on it accidentally by hitting it on a corner. Not bad at all!

I live in NE Ohio, so keep that in mind in terms of bug size. This thing probably wouldn’t stand a chance against Florida bugs.

USB port was mishandled which makes it difficult to insert the cable. Took a lot of frustrating effort to get it in. Swatter works great once charged.

I bought this product to kill large flies that get into the house. I purchased the large size zapper. It's not too heavy and it's pretty easy to use. Unlike a regular fly swatter, you can not swat it against things like a wall because it is a plastic item that is breakable or could be damaged and strong enough that it could break or damage what it hits. So you kinda have to hit the fly while it's flying in the air. One thing i didn't like was that it does not always kill a fly on the first hit. Although the fly gets zapped they do not always die. I have to either get the fly to run into the zapper a few times or hit it hard enough the first time to kill it. It would be nice if it killed on the first zap. The product is fun to use. I like the loud zapping noise you hear when a fly gets zapped.
