Absolutely fantastic!
I was looking for counter-height stools for the island in my kitchen, and at the Ashley store the 24" height looked SO short! I never would have believed that they would be correct.I looked around at other local places (Valu City, Raymoor) but all their stuff seemed really cheap. The best stuff I found was at Ashley, and I'm not an Ashley Furniture snob, in fact I'm picking up my living room set from ValuCity on Tuesday. I just shop around and find the best stuff that each place offers.Anyway, got home, measured the height, measured me, and turns out that 24" is a lot higher than you'd think, and is what is known as "counter height".I found these on the Ashley furniture main web site, searched for them on Amazon, they had them at an absolutely amazing price of $40/ea (and I say that seriously, $40 a piece ... that's unreal! From China or not, it's a great price for what you get!).The packaging, the assembly, and the overall "heft" of the product is incredible. The seat is wood-ish material, but even if it's not real wood, it's dense, it's very hard and thick, and has been coated (I'm assuming a commercial polyurethane) at least 10 times. It's built to last and take a beating.And to top it off, for those in the "know", the screws holding them together had loctite pre-applied!$40/ea ... I can't get over that price.Oh yeah ... and free shipping!!!I never add pictures to reviews, but this one is worth it. I couldn't be happier with the quality of these and the overall product.(update 4/5/2015 - I noticed the price has gone up. When I purchased it was $80 for the pair)

Coming from an engineer, the stools are fairly well built. Unfortunately probably during the manufacturing process and Welding, the little tabs that screw onto the base we're bent. Not all of them just some, so straighten them out with a pair of pliers before you crank down on the screw and possibly crack the welds. One leg came with a cracked weld, but Amazon is going to replace it for free. The paint job is nice and the wood stain is a dark rustic Brown. Overall I'm very happy for the price. And the leveling feet at the bottom is a great design feature. They are hard rubber but you could always stick a felt pad on the bottom.

I've been looking for about a month for backless barstools. You might say I'm a bit picky, but I want to be 1000% sure that what I buy is something that I'm absolutely going to love. ...And I absolutely love these stools! They were extremely easy to assemble. The instructions say that it's best to have 2 people do the assembly, but all you really need is 1. The stools are lightweight and durable. Although I've had these for about a week, it's holding up pretty well. A plus is the easy breezy clean up if something should get on it. I have a 6-year-old who loves hanging out in the kitchen to do her activities. These are a must buy! And for the price for 2, where can you go wrong?! Shipping came right on time with no damages to the box or the products itself. It's well packaged.
