Last for only 2 months per 4 of AA batteries. Remote feature mostly unusable. Works great with key!Keep in mind am ass on is 2x actual customer rating value... meaning 2 here. I gave it 4 so it would be posted and viewed to warn others that like good factual reviews with measurements. So I was mildly disappointed to find that wifi and remote functions are not working or near impossible to set up. Many reviews state this though. Then I realized this lock will NOT work with rechargables since it fails in lock mode at 1.3V .... below the 1.25 nominal NiMH AA voltages. Now I am finding it only will use about 20 to 25% of 4 new AA alkaline batteries meaning about 2 months. Look at my measurement at the failure point (all batteries the same voltage) and see the life chart at about 25%. Note it will lock the door ... but not unlock it as the batteries fail! So plan on about 25$/year and 6 changes to make this work! I am assuming you do a perfect install with near zero lockbolt hole friction. So if you want an expensive keyed lock bolt that sometimes works to sell a house this is perfect!

My Yale/Nest lock became increasingly flakey, going offline sporadically until, after resetting it many times, it eventually refused to connect at all. (I worked the problem for a *long* time before giving up and buying this as a replacement. There were a lot of people online with the same problem and the "fixes" didn't help.)

I was pleasantly surprised that the installation was easy. The only part of the installation that was poorly documented was the bit about the door sensor. The door sensor monitors whether the door is physically shut or not (since the deadbolt can be operated regardless of whether the door is open or closed). I watched the YouTube video and it explained things better that the written instructions, so, overall, installation was problem-free.

The app is a little over-engineered, in my opinion. You set up "Addresses", "Locations" within an Address, and "Devices" within a location. I suppose it makes sense if, for example, you owned several properties with multiple buildings on each, with every unit in every building having two or more devices. For a person like me, with just one lock at a vacation home, it's overkill and unnecessarily complicated.

The features of the app are great, comparable to what I had with the Yale/Nest lock. The two major differences are 1) that the ULTRALOQ has a sensor for when the door is open or shut and 2) the way to handle dead batteries.

The Yale/Nest lock has contacts on the outside where you hold up a 9-volt battery to the lock, powering it long enough to get it unlocked. The ULTRALOQ has physical keys. I like having the physical keys very much, but they are no use if the physical key is not present. For example, if I wanted to give access to guests and the batteries were dead, I would have to drive hours to meet with them and get the door unlocked. It would be ideal to have both features: battery terminals AND physical keys. But I can't really knock it for not having a feature that I already knew it lacked.

That said, the ULTRALOQ app tells me how strong the batteries are, which the Yale/Nest lock does not do. Another cool feature of the ULTRALOQ is that I can take it off the WiFi (and lose remote control capability) to extend battery life. I don't want to do that, but it's cool that it's possible.

Replacing the batteries is easier with the ULTRALOQ. You need a tool or thin toothpick to get the battery cover off the Yale/Nest lock. The ULTRALOQ cover comes off just by applying gentle pressure.

The ULTRALOQ has an "autolock" feature which seems a little too aggressive. I turned this off because I sometimes want to leave the front door open without the lock taking it upon itself to lock within seconds. There is also a feature to automatically unlock whenever a configured Bluetooth device approaches. That's also too automatic for me, but some users might appreciate it.

Updating the firmware on the ULTRALOQ was a big pain. It took several attempts which failed randomly, despite the WiFi being strong and my phone being right next to the lock. That did not bode well, as it reminded me of trouble I've had with other devices. But it eventually worked.

I would change my rating from four to five stars if the firmware updates worked more reliably and if the app was organized more intuitively. But, so far, the lock is working well and it has almost all the features I want.

If you're having issues with your lock don't immediately get angry or return it or write off the company. Reach out to their customer service! Even if it's been months since you purchased it. All of their products come with warranties varying from 6 months to multiple years. You can find out what kind of warranty and how long you have by going to their website.

Our lock was almost a year old and the gear mechanism inside that turns the deadbolt, stopped engaging with the deadbolt gear. So the lock just would not lock on its own no matter what I tried. I thought I was SOL and had to buy a new lock because it had been more than 60 days since I purchased it from Amazon. But I decided to reach out to their customer service, found out I had a warranty, and thought "cool maybe they can at least troubleshoot it". But, they did way more than that!

I'm pretty sure my warranty was limited, but they didn't make me jump through any hoops, They only asked I do a few trouble shooting steps, and it only took 2 email replies For them to determine That I was eligible for a full brand new replacement. they quickly shipped out an entirely new lock, every last piece of one. I offered to send back the original and they told me not to worry about it. The were super responsive, super kind, super helpful, super amazing!! I could go on and on.

The lock itself works phenomenal also. I don't have a bridge so it never seems to integrate with alexa, but the app rarely lags when I use it, I cab lock my doors from 100 or more ft away from the house, and the keypad lights up which is double awesome. The materials are well made and durable and just all around amazing. Thanks you ultraloq!

I’ve gone thru a ton of smart locks for my airbnb. This one has been by far the best option. Easy guest access, even easier for me to switch the code right from my phone. Plus design is sleek and easy on the eye.

I’ve had this for almost two years, when it started glitching. I reached out to customer service and was honestly amazed at the speed and care they presented. They had my Airbnb up and running with this smart lock in no time.

I would definitely keep buying this brand, best customer service hands down

The lock was easy to set up and does its job, although the app can be a little slow to load.

Customer service is fantastic though. The first lock I received kept draining the battery after a few days, but they sent me a replacement quickly after I contacted them about the issue.

New lock has been working great so far!

We have had a few different keyless locks over the years and this one is by far the best thus far. I really enjoy the proximity function that automatically detects my return and unlocks automatically. The install is easy, directions are clear, programming and function are on the easier side as well. All in all I highly recommend this product of you are in search of a remote/keyless dead bolt.

I have been using this product for about 6 months. This particular model (not the Pro) does not have a fingerprint reader.

PROS:
- easy to install, fairly thorough instructions and includes a paper template. I had absolutely no problems with the install, but I'm fairly handy.
- as long as I have an internet connection, I can tell if I forgot to lock the door, and can lock it remotely.
- if a person is coming and I'm not home, I can unlock the door via the app. Perfect to let a friend, a trusted contractor, or the kids in while I'm out, without needing to give them a physical key which can be copied or lost
- looks nice. My original door hardware was had a brushed nickel finish so this fits right in
- very compact. The original designers put all the numbers and everything really close together, so a lot of the other automatic door options didn't fit
- the auto lock is super handy

CONS:
- takes a long time to connect via app to the device, so I'm waiting quite a while when I open the app. More of a nuisance than a problem
- the auto lock feature can activate at inconvenient times (like when you need to hold the door open for a long time, or just as you are closing the door) which means that the bolt can smash against the door jamb accidentally. But this is a problem with most locks that have an auto-lock feature
- the magic shake function doesn't really work well for me because it can't tell which shake is intentional so when I'm inside, the lock keeps unlocking unintentionally. I ended up turning off this feature.
- no wifi on the lock itself, it needs the bridge as an adaptor, and the bridge must be pretty close.
- if the door runs out of batteries and you didn't have an offsite backup key, then you would be hooped!

I had a problem with the device not turning on, even with fresh batteries. So I made use of the technical support, and they got back to me extremely quickly, suggested some things, like re-setting the lock by removing the batteries and keeping the lock at no-power status for 5 minutes. That seems to have done the trick. So kudos to the responsive tech support.
