    My one year old daughter randomly started having very high fevers with no known cause. The other day in the middle of the night I reached over to feel my daughter and she was on fire. So hot, I knew something was off. I took her temp and it was 106.6. I immediately called 911, got to the hospital and it was still 106 it took hours to get her regulated. I am thankful to have had a fast reading accurate thermometer!! She is on her way to healing now.

    I’m a family medicine physician.

    We needed a personal thermometer at home when caring for our kids, and we replaced a forehead thermometer with this one. The forehead version was simply inaccurate - it gave too much variation from minute-to-minute, and sometimes read temperatures over 105, which I knew weren’t accurate. Small children often run high temperatures into the 103-104 range in the evenings when fevers tend to be at their highest, but a reasonably playful and active child simply won’t have a temp of 105 or higher, so I lost any confidence in the other one. It also provoked a lot of unnecessary anxiety for my wife.

    This version is consistent and appears to be accurate after quite a number of uses, and it’s very easy to use. I would definitely recommend it over the forehead version we had previously, and a reliable and consistent thermometer is worth the money to me.

    Great thermometer - but with one annoying feature. You MUST select an age group EVERY time you want to measure the temp. WHY??? In a household of all adults, after turning the thermometer on you still have to wait 5 seconds (while it shows you the previous reading, that you probably don't need anymore), and then cycle through the 3 age categories to get to 3+. Only after that will it let you take your temperature.

    Our older model doesn't have this "upgrade". This thermometer is a great, but has been over-engineered. It has memory for the past 10 readings, and insists on displaying the last reading to you, which I doubt anyone actually needs. But has no memory for the age selection. So very annoying.

    My middle child has been sick a lot and we had an oral thermometer and a forehead scanner that both kept giving me inaccurate temps or not reading the temp at all. I have been using this thermometer everyday since I got it (my kid is still running a fever) and it's so much faster and my kid is not complaining about having to keep their mouth shut or holding still for so long while I try to take their temp. It honestly takes me longer to set it up and pick the right age range than it does to scan the temp.
    It's easy to change the plastic cover and I like the holder it comes with that hold the extra covers.
