Started out reliable, now, not so much. **Updated 11/30/2022
**Update 11/30/2022 - 13 months after purchaseYeah, big negative on this product. It only deserves a 1 star and that is being gracious. This thing has become so unreliable on detecting movement that we end up silencing/turning off notifications more than we leave them on. Sure, the ability to pull up the camera and watch it is great but not the reason anyone would buy this. It's to catch movement in case something happens. I've done everything Eufy has asked me to do to try to get it to work (rearrange my porch, create custom zones on the camera, sent them data, etc) and none of it has done squat for detection accuracy and reliability.**Update - 10 months later:I've contact Eufy twice over this time to try and work on getting my motion detection issues figured out and resolved. After sending the data they requested and doing some troubleshooting, they decided to send me a new unit at no charge. They even let me wait to return my old one until after the new on arrived so that I wouldn't be without some kind of camera/doorbell.I swapped the units out and, unfortunately, my motion detection issues persisted. They finally recommended that I clear out some flower pots/stands I had within view of the camera and that did help a good bit but I still get false detection's, motion not picked up but I will say that it's not as frequent. I'm not really happy that I have to rearrange my porch to suit the camera. I've since put the flower pots back where they were and am just dealing with it.I also inquired if they would ever add a wedge-like option to allow vertical tilting of the camera for people, like me, who have vinyl plank siding. (see image) They offer a 15 degree wedge to allow the camera to be tilted horizontally, which works great but nothing for the vertical angle. As a result of the camera being slightly tilted up, I can't see the immediate area around the base of my door.Despite these issues, it is still a very decent device that is worth the price. Their support has been pretty good, which is hard to come by these days, so that does help to offset some minor shortcomings of the device.Unfortunately, I will not ever even consider any of their larger video surveillance products because everything comes in that horrid white. The doorbell comes in black, which is great, but everything else is shiny white. So until they decide to offer black in more of their product line, count me out.-----------Original Review---------------Purchased 11/4/2021: First installed it and it was great with the motion detection but now, it seems everything BUT actual motion from people (deliveries, guests) triggers it. So the confidence in this product is severely waning. I've played with the settings to tweak it but nothing is really getting close to how it was when it was first installed. So I dont know if they changed the software or what has happened to it but it's a little disappointing.I do like the build of the product and the fact that all the recordings are contained within the device and not the cloud. They provided a 15 degree angled plate that you could mount the camera on if you wanted it to be a little more biased to one side or another. This foresight would have been great if they provided a similarly angled plate for people who have plank style aluminum siding. Because of the plank side that is angled, the camera sites tilted slightly up and just looks like a sloppy install job. I've considered a 3D print job from a friend but haven't gotten around to it.I won't buy again for my other doors that need camera surveillance and might end up swapping this one out for a different one.

Tip : after installing camera you point a QR code in front of it to register device. The instructions don’t make it clear you have to ring the doorbell and hold the QR code in front of the camera at the same time. After that registering was easy. A lot easier than registering the @mcrest doorbell that died after 2 years and was unreliable.

The biggest thing I love about this camera is the display is set up for 4 x 3 not widescreen 16 x 9. This has a much better field of view for us to see visitors at our door. The fisheye lens shows more but can be disabled in settings for a more straight on view.

This doorbell has 4 gig of internal storage included. No need to buy a micro SD card. The video and pics are 1080p and good quality. You can adjust how sensitive the motion detection is and even move lines around to create a custom zone. Only movement inside the zone you create will set off an alert.

I had to bypass my mechanical doorbell and have all power from the doorbell transformer go directly to the camera. I plugged in the included auxillary doorbell close to our front door. The app lets you change the ring chime and even the volume.

If you want a security doorbell camera but hate paying monthly fees this is the one for you. There is an option to pay for cloud video storage but it’s not required at all. So far this is the best no monthly fee doorbell I’ve ever owned. Highly recommend.

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. When we bought our new home, I wanted to replace the existing doorbell with a security video doorbell and there's a number of them to choose from. Initially, I went with a Ring but its profile was wider than what I wanted for the doorframe and, besides, it used a rechargeable battery (i.e., it didn't use the existing doorbell's power).

In contrast, the Eufy system easily utilizes the home wiring (you just have to add an extra wire to bypass your existing chime which just takes a minute) and the Eufy chime is a plug-in that you can place anywhere in your house- it kind of looks like one of those plug-in air fresheners. Furthermore, the Eufy system records video whenever triggered by activity which you can download: you don't have to pay a monthly subscription to have the data stored on the cloud. This is a big plus for me as it's "one and done"- you pay for the system just once. You receive notifications of any activity via an app on your phone which you can view. Any footage you want to save can be downloaded and the rest gets cleared at the end of each day.

Video footage is clear and crisp including at night. You can use the built-in speaker system to talk to anyone who is at your door. And the product itself is pretty slick looking. Disadvantages? It uses infrared at night so it switches to black and white mode when its dark so if you want color video at night, this might not be for you. Also, if you want to be able to record every bit of video up to a server, again, another product with a subscription service might better serve your needs. Also, I had to replace the existing doorbell transformer from a 16V to a 24V otherwise it was underpowered.

In summary: if you want a system which notifies you when people come to your door, be able to communicate with them in real-time, provides crisp footage which you can download, has an easy-to-use intuitive app, and doesn't require a monthly or annual subscription service, this is the one for you.

(Leaving my previous review below but only for reference.) After seeing my review below, the customer service team at Eufy reached out to me to make suggestions for improving my experience. It involved several emails back and forth with me submitting screen shots etc., and them replying with suggestions. This makes me feel much better about Eufy just knowing that a responsive team felt their product was not the issue, and was willing to work with me to get it working much much more reliably. It's not a 5 star experience yet, but it's up to 4, and I'd be happy now to recommend this product.
      **********
      (previous review)
I kept waiting to write this review, hoping I'd be able to give it a better rating, but unfortunately I'm pretty disappointed. At first I just thought it was a steep learning curve for me, but I now think the learning curve is needed by the doorbell and not me. Although I've adjusted the sensitivity and the activity zone multiple times, we regularly get notifications (often many per day) showing the front tire of my husband's car in the driveway, which Eufy identifies as a human. Yet the newspaper carrier can drive up the driveway and launch the newspaper to our front door and we've yet to see the doorbell take note of that event.

If someone actually comes to the door and rings the doorbell, everything works pretty well - the doorbell rings, my phone buzzes and I can see who is there. But it seems that unless someone is actually standing within a couple of feet of the doorbell, we don't get notifications of their presence. I had hoped to be able to see and track a little more of the coming and going between us and the street. But apparently the most notable thing to Eufy is hubby's car tire - that keeps it ever alert.

The other disappointing thing is the number of times I see or hear an alert, and when I try to open the app to see what's up, I'm told that my phone is not connected to the internet. (Which is totally not true.) So all in all, it functions adequately as a doorbell but not much else. At this point I'm reduced to hoping it's "look" of a security doorbell might be enough to keep a bad guy thinking he's being recorded, but unless he lays on the driveway next to my husband's car tire, we likely won't get any video to show for it.

Sure wish I had a better rating.

I didn't want to review this product until some time passed. I absolutely love this product and recommended it to several of my friends who also bought it. I love that there are no subscription fees. The image quality is very good and it was easy to install. My husband installed two other doorbells in addition to ours. He had problems with installing one but it had to do with the internet at the house. He then set it up at our house and brought it back to our friends and it worked perfectly and continues to do so. The motion detection works well. The sound quality is very clear too and the doorbell chime can even be changed for birthdays and holidays. While there aren't that many selections compared to other brands, I find it adequate since that's not it's main purpose. It does that exactly what it says it does. The only thing we've noticed, which is like other reviews is that there is a small lag on the connected devices such as phone. It rings a minute or so later. I don't see that as a huge deal but there is a slight delay. I love this camera that I bought another and am looking for more to build an entire security system.

Have used the doorbell camera for a few months and works great. No monthly fees unless you want to have the extra option. I wired the battery version to existing 30 year old doorbell and everything worked through existing doorbell chime. There are some sharper cameras out there but this one is pretty good and allows you to zoom in but catching license plate numbers on cars going by are not clear enough. Sometimes motion may miss someone but good overall and may be a trade off between all motion vs human motion setting. Had to mount where the edge of a brick on one side interfered a little with camera which was ok in daytime but night vision was not good so mounted a non reflective piece of plastic against brick and night vision improved significantly. After several calls to tech support, I would rate them the best to deal with

4.0 out of 5 stars Good subscriptionless security solution.
Reviewed in Canada on January 30, 2022
My biggest beef with these security cameras is that they all want you to commit to a subscription. I don't want that: I want to buy it, install it, and then just own it. Enter Eufy.

Installation was simple once we got the right voltage installed - you need 16-24V, and old-fashioned doorbells don't have that, so we did need to upgrade the transformer.

      The pros:
      - NO SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED! That's the no. 1 advantage & reason I bought this particular model
      - decent picture,
      - works most of the time,
      - has stood up to some really cold days.
      - Provides a record of people coming to the door, even when we're not home. Overall I do like having this bit of security.

      The cons:
      - No way to bypass the ringer/chime box. I wanted to use our existing hardwired chime (which is used by the back door so can't be removed) and tried really-really hard to get this Eufy to work with it. But it just wouldn't. So now we have a big hardwired box for the back door, and another monstrosity plugged into a wall extender and hanging on by the toenails, for the front door fancy-dancy, totally superfluous chime. I wish I could get rid of that thing, but well... first-world problem, I guess.
      - relatively small angle of picture - you see people come up to the door but can't see anything they might leave by the door, which I would prefer (some other cameras are way better at this).
      - Sometimes it just misses activity... weird. Haven't been able to figure out why, but this seems to happen occasionally - unpredictable but definitely happens, as confirmed by a Blink camera that does pick up on these instances.

Overall I've been happy with it, got used to that chunk o' plastic plugged into the wall, and would probably buy it again. If ever I find a good doorbell camera that hooks into the hardwired chime though, I would prefer that one.

Easy installation, easy-to-use mobile app, and great quality - both build waulity and image quality from the day and night camera settings.

Only thing that needs improvement is the motion and human detection. It is a little too sensitive. Definitely better than not being sensitive enough, but it can be annoying getting a notification for a human at the door when the camera caught a tree moving.

This was not enough to dissuade me from buying this a second time for my parents. Would definitely recommend, especially at a sale price!
