I feel like the laser pattern could be a little slower, for people with less active/senior kitties, but the slow speed is the perfect setting for my middle aged, fairly energetic trio. The fast setting is definitely too fast unless your cats love a frantic chase instead of the build up hunt/butt wiggle pounce with a few frantic dashes in between. Yes, the pattern it makes on the floor is predictable, but I've yet to find an automatic laser pointer that had a truly random pattern. This one at least does a zig zag pattern with periodic stops as opposed to the typical circular pattern. For my cats at least, the circular one isn't as interesting and they tend to ignore it pretty fast. This one, especially with the turning on/off on it's own (which is an absolute god send when you have multiple cats that like to beg for laser time), actually holds their attention for 15+ minutes at a time, multiple times a day, all without me having to come in and turn it on/off to conserve battery & kitty attention span. Which brings me to the next great benefit of this laser pointer...
You can plug it in either permanently, or to recharge. No more burning through AA batteries non-stop or having a rotation of rechargeable AA batteries at the ready! I set up ours on a shelf right near an outlet near one of their cat trees so I can leave it to entertain the cats on their own schedule, night and day. No more having them meow at my bedroom door because they're bored with their multitudes of toys & climbing perches! It's proven to be fairly durable too, as I have a 3yr old who believes all cat toys are really toddler toys and keeps trying to turn it on/off or bumps it off the shelf (we don't have it screwed into the wall, but we probably should one of these days). It's taken a few falls and is still working without any trouble. The multiple choices for mounting it is super nice too, since you can suction it to a fridge, mount it on a wall, or just set it on its stand on a shelf so it's at the right height. There are instructions indicating the ideal height for the motion sensing.
Oh, and it has adorable, color changing kitty ears too. How cute is that?

Excitement abounds
This has been so great for my cats! They love it! I keep it in random so I never o ow when it’s going to intrigue them.The only con I have for it is the battery doesn’t last very long. I have to charge it more than I expected.I definitely recommend.
