This stuff way exceeded my greatest expectations! When I moved into my new place the former owner left their washer and dryer for me. When I opened the closet where they were I was hit with a really intense musty smell of mildew or mold, like something was constantly wet in there. I searched for the smell and was surprised to find it was actually the inside of the washing machine. It's a front loader which was new to me and I thought they must have just continuously left wet clothes in it. After I moved in I started having flooding from a blocked drain pipe behind the washer. Little did I know it was pouring down into my finished basement and I had to have a massive demo and dry out and then a huge remodel done. I got the pipe cleared and assumed that had to be why it was so musty in there. The tear down and rebuild did not fix the smell. I had already tried vinegar and baking soda and bleach and I did look it up and found the seal had very thick black grime all through it. They clearly had never cleaned it. When reading about it it did mention Affresh. It took me a while to order it but now that I did I won't be without it. The black area in the top of the seal that I couldn't scrub off and had been permanently discolored by mold faded far more than I thought possible. The inside of the washer smells great and the inside of the closet is clear of any smell. Luckily all that other major stuff came out of my homeowners insurance and had to be done anyway. That would have been crazy if I went through all of that just because my washing machine was moldy. I am really surprised that it was able to get all the way up under the rubber seal. I was so scared I might have to take it off to clean it because I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to put it back on! I'm 46 and my washer broke in my last house right after I bought it. I ended up paying a lot of extra money for an old style heavy duty one that's made the way they were when I was young. They lasted forever. I brought it to this place with me and when this fancy digital front loading smart washer kicks the bucket (because it will and it probably won't be long) I'll put my top loading washer in there that will last a lifetime (the rest of mine anyway). Until then I'm really happy I found Affresh. The wipes are on their way. I have high hopes. The reviews are great. I also got the dishwasher cleaner and stove top cleaner (which was delivered to me by mistake about a year ago and I haven't tried it yet). This product seems to live up to all the raving reviews!

These have worked well to keep our washing machine clean. However, our new washing machine started dripping water during the Affresh cleaning cycle. I could not find the source of the leak, and the internet was not helpful. I finally had a factory serviceman over today. He told me that if you have a water softener (we do), you need only to use half a tablet; otherwise, there will be too many suds, and they will go up and out the vent inside the machine. Arrgh. I hope this saves someone a service call.

A front loader washer requires regular cleaning to get rid of the mold/mildew that builds up around the rubber door seal, typically at the bottom where water tends to lay. We wipe this area after we are done washing ( 4 - 6 loads per week) to dry it as much as possible.

Every 3 - 6 months, I soak a paper towel in chlorine bleach and lay in the bottom the seal for a couple of hours to get rid any black that has appeared. Even though the black mold/mildew is gone, I still have an odor.

I then tried Affresh Washing Machine Cleaner for the first time. I followed the directions and ran it with the hottest, longest cycle. Afterwards, I had black residue in the drum. This cleaned up easily with a paper towel but now the smell was worse and mostly coming from the soap dispenser area. I ran two more cycle with water only to rinse it out. I still had some residue after the first rinse cycle but none after the second cycle.

Still had some odor coming from the soap dispenser area. I took the soap dispense apart and cleaned as much as I could. I then ran one more hot, long cycle this time with chlorine bleach in the bleach dispenser. Now I do not have any odors at all.

Besides keeping the door open at all times when not in use with an old sock tied in a knot as a door prop, I am also going to keep the soap dispenser door open at all times when not in use to make sure that air can circulate as much as possible.

I will use Affresh Washing Machine Cleaner probably every 3 - 6 months or as I think as needed.

My whirlpool washers strongly advised me to get these Affresh tablets and I kept putting it off putting it off.

Bought some used washer and dryer set and although it looked new and hardly used… in a few months I started to smell that “mold sewer smell” and I’m like dannng, time to order these affresh.

After a few cycles on the “clean setting” I think 2 or 3 tablets at a time… I think I used 2 at once not sure but I know I did it 2 separate times and no more bad smells!
I’ll order again soon! I even shared a few tablets with my sister and she can’t tell the difference but I can on hers lol (since I used her washer before I got my own!!)

I bought this hoping it would help get rid of the bad smell that front loaders commonly have after a few years. At first it worked great, the smell disappeared, but unfortunately reappeared after a few washes. This is good for cleaning the inside tub only. I did however finally discover a way to get rid of the smell, but not by using this. Use a microfiber rag and dry/wipe out the inside rubber, inside door, the detergent drawer (even if using pods, because water still gets trapped in there), and then leave the front loader door open a crack as well as the detergent drawer. The key is to dry everything out, then it won't smell next time you run your machine. It's sort of a pain, but if the smell drives you nuts like it did me, then this is a great solution.

Discovered I hadn’t been cleaning the drum on my machine and what I needed to do. Purchased and have run a couple drum cleans through to give any grime what for! ;)
After the first drum clean I wasn’t too happy with the smell but let it air completely and ran through again and it’s been fine. Will buy again.
