Dual-Core 7th Gen Kaby Lake Intel Core m3 Performance

The 7th Gen Kaby Lake Intel Core m3 processor with 14nm process technology provides fast dual-core performance. The dual cores can run at a stock speed of 1.2 GHz and can boost up to 3.0 GHz as needed, thanks to Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. With a 4MB L3 cache and 8GB of onboard 1866 MHz LPDDR3 RAM, the MacBook provides fast and energy efficient performance.

12" LED-Backlit IPS Retina Display

The 12" Retina display on the MacBook doesn't just have a high resolution, but it's also paper thin. In fact, it is just 0.03" (0.88mm). A specially developed automated manufacturing process forms the edge-to-edge glass that's only 0.02" (0.5mm) thick. And Apple reduced the space between display components for a tighter, more integrated design. The Retina display has a 2304 x 1440 native resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It also has 178° viewing angles, thanks to its IPS panel.

Fast Flash Storage

Part of what makes MacBook so responsive is that it's designed entirely around flash storage. Not only does this make the MacBook much lighter and more portable than traditional notebooks, it also provides faster access to data. The flash storage is up to 9 times faster than a traditional 5400 rpm notebook hard drive.

802.11ac Wi-Fi: Three Times Faster

With an emphasis on mobile, the MacBook is equipped with 802.11ac Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology. With AirPlay and Apple TV, you can wirelessly play video, show off photos, and enjoy music from your MacBook on your widescreen TV. And when your MacBook connects to an 802.11ac Wi‑Fi base station, such as AirPort Extreme or AirPort Time Capsule, your wireless performance is up to three times faster.

USB 3.0 Type-C

To create a notebook as thin and light as the MacBook, Apple had to strive for efficiency in every detail, right down to how it connects to peripherals and power. So Apple contributed to a growing universal connectivity standard that combines the essential functions you need every day in one dynamic port. The USB Type-C port offers charging, quick USB 3.0 data transfer for connecting to external devices and peripherals, and video output that supports HDMI, VGA, and Mini DisplayPort connections. All in a small, reversible design that's one-third the size of a USB Type-A port.

The Force Touch trackpad. Press a little deeper, do a lot more.

The Force Touch trackpad may look like other trackpads on the surface, but underneath it’s unlike anything that’s existed before. Force sensors detect how much pressure you’re applying, and the new Taptic Engine provides a click sensation when you press anywhere on the surface. Now the click that once was a single, mechanical function is just the start of what you can do with Force Touch.

You ever fight against something due to just being stubborn? I've never owned a Mac. I Mean I've used them in grade school all the way through high school. Starting with the black and white rectangular machines and ending with a bright blue iMac but that was school. At home? It was Windows. ALWAYS. My association with Mac computers were forced school work, boring projects....blah blah blah.Flash forward and I'm 30. Still a Windows gal (Android as well...*like I said stubborn*) I'm working for a great health care company and about to start classes again to advance my career...classes which are online. My job involves me using my work laptop which is a decent Dell... I travel though. My computer is heavy and my internet is slow at certain buildings. I'm a quick person....I just want to go go go and I've been feeling the anxiety of waiting. Waiting for my computer to load more than one program. Waiting for my mail to update. Waiting for my computer to restart due to it freezing. It's gotten to the point where I can see my work suffering during busy times. I can work faster than my computer allows me to.My boss is a Mac guy. Cool Dude. I hadn't paid much attention to his comments regarding how great they are because really? How much better can it be???? Man was I wrong. I received this laptop on Tuesday. I set it up that night. There was cursing and WTF moments due to my 12 year hiatus from the machine. I finally figured out how to print, open multiple screens and started finding out neat things I can do with the touchpad and shortcuts. It's been quite the experience. The biggest test thus far has been traveling to a building that's been notorious for causing me to get three quarters of a days work done. Well with the Mac I was working so fast and able to accomplish so much that I would pause and just stare at the computer. How the hell are there other options? I worked last night until 9pm with a fellow employee to try and do some catch up due to the holidays coming up. We legit knocked our work out of the park.Okay so what do I love about this computer? It's user friendly. Best advise from my boss was think of the easiest solution when trying to figure out what to do. It's usually the answer. He's correct. I've yet to have to google how to do something on this. I can just play around and figure it out....I take that back. I did ask Siri for help on screenshooting which is actually way better than any I've done with a previous computer. I get to make a frame of what I want to take a screen shot of. Pretty awesome. Another thing I love is the speed. I can see how much faster I'm working than others. I now see their struggle and feel for them....I feel like Macs should be the only laptops. I just can't picture myself using another computer knowing how great these are. Also this is refurbished right? It feels brand new. No dents, bumps or any issues. My boss checked it out and thought it was great. I checked the battery cycle. I guess with refurbished ones you're supposed to. It was at SEVEN. You replace your battery once it gets to 1000 so that's pretty awesome. Best decision I've made in years.

Awesome laptop. Looks brand new and works perfect. I'm accustomed to a a pro so was worried the slower processor speed would be an issue but been able to run virtual machines with no problem. Small screen is definitely harder to use than a 13 in but the exchange is awesome portability for people like me who have to carry a work laptop too.

This review will cover 2 things: the 2017 MacBook 12" itself, and the refurbished unit that this seller sells.

Firstly, I was not expecting this low power laptop to have so much hidden power. It does everything that I need it to do for photo editing unless I am trying to do something really demanding in photoshop. In Lightroom, On1, and Luminar it works much better than a M series processor should. I would say that this little thing can do everything short of video editing without any hiccups.

Now for the refurbished unit that this seller sells. This is why I dinged a star from the review. The MacBook looks like new, except my left shift key does not work. Because it is refurbished by a 3rd party, which I do not think that they advertise well enough, it is not covered under apples warranty.

Was worried about purchasing refurbished, but unit arrived in new condition with battery cycle count of 3 (~brand new). High school student is very happy with his new computer. Hope it helps (better to get homework done) rather than hurts (distraction, distraction, distraction).

Macbook arrived in Excellent condition, virtually indistinguishable from a new one save for the packaging. Overall I think this was a excellent purchase (just consider whether the Macbook 12 inch is right for you).
