Calico Critters is a unique and adorable range of distinctive animal characters with charming and beautifully detailed homes, furniture and accessories. They live, work and play in an idyllic and wonderful place called Calico Village. These timeless, classic toys promote wholesome family values. These life-like, award-winning miniatures also inspire imagination and creativity. These adorable toys promote healthy cognitive development through pretend play. Acting out storylines will exercise narrative and critical thinking processes, while fine motor skills and dexterity improve as little ones manipulate the fun environments, critters and accessories.

Red Roof Country Home Gift Set can be opened up for play at 90-degrees, 180-degrees, and any angle in between. Closing up the house creates the appearance of a wonderful home, no matter which angle you look at it from, with light spilling out through the windows making quite the sight to behold.

The second floor room on the left side, and the roof on the right side are removable. Placing this room on top of the roof, or placing the roof on top of the terrace creates a large, three-story house to play with. Both Hopscotch Rabbit Girl and Hopscotch Rabbit Mother are included.     My three year old daughter loves it! My mom gave her money to spend for Christmas and this is what she picked out. She saw a commercial for it on TV. The house is so adorable and there are so many cute little details. Just a warning, if your child is still putting stuff in her mouth, there are a ton of small accessories so that may be dangerous. My daughter is over that phase so it was not a concern. Also, it only comes with two bunnies so I bought her a set of additional bunnies. Everything in this line is precious!

It does come with several small pieces that we did not give her to play with for several reasons...1) even though I'm fairly certain she would not put them in her mouth, we didn't want to give her the temptation of the little food. 2) I didn't want her to lose them and be upset at the chance we couldn't find them. So we will save them for when she is older. Overall it is a great playhouse that doesn't scream gaudy, cheap, plastic toy.

    This is really cute and well made. My girls got this for Christmas and they absolutely love it. They've played with every day. It was easy to assemble out of the box but my husband went the extra mile and super glued the pieces together. He said it was almost necessary since some of the connections were loose. At least this way we won't have to worry about pieces falling off easily during play. With that being said, I would definitely recommend having a tube of super glue handy while putting this house together. Overall I am very happy with this. The Calico Critters are adorable and my kids are very happy.

    This cottage is wonderful! Not to mention it came with bonus furniture at a fantastic price. The detail in all these tiny pieces is incredible. I know my 10 year old daughter absolutely loves it. It's different than the "usual" doll houses and let's her use more of her imagination while playing. I love listening to her playing with it, and hearing the little things she comes up with in that imagination of hers. Props to whomever invented and designed this.     This house is a Great value for all that comes with it. However, it comes with like 48 teeny tiny plates, forks, spoons, cups, food, even a mini coffee pot! There is No Way a child can successfully play with all these little items and are a real danger of swallowing! Only the Calico Critters have small enough paws to play with them, but they don't have fingers!
    Ithe does come with a bedroom set, kitchen table and chairs, and a working light!
    We love playing with it, but I took all the teeny tiny things and put them away. They'll kill my vacuum and I just plain dislike toys with a lot of useless small items.

    I took my daughter to the toy shop a couple weeks ago to get an idea of what she would be interested in for a gift on her 3rd birthday. They had a play table set up with this and some other characters and accessories. Once she saw it, she didn't want to look at anything else and played with it for the rest of our visit.     She was so happy when she saw the box and shouted, "WOW! Happy! Happy!" while jumping up and down. I'm so glad the contents were not in bits and pieces. I only had to secure the two pieces together with a bar, install the light fixtures and batteries and snap the balcony railing on. She's been playing with it for most of the day since she got it. There are some very small pieces like toast and pencils that she started to chew on so I've removed all of those for safe keeping until she's a little older.

    This product is amazing! I have only checked the inside of the box because it’s a Christmas present for my grand daughter. The toy arrived in excellent condition. There are lots of little items (bonus with this set) to get started as well as 2 adorable figures. The quality is lovely. The house is well constructed and folds for storage/closing. The little figures are plastic with a soft flocked coating. The heads, atms and legs move. The plastic animals are solid so children won’t be able to accidently squeeze/step on the heads so they go flat. There are also lots of other sets you can order to expand - animals, furniture, etc. I know this will be a favourite toy for years to come for my granddaughter (and me)!
