A few months ago, I bought a very simple, very inexpensive rice cooker. It did its job well with one exception: while the rice was cooking, starchy water would spew out of the vent hole onto my kitchen counter, making an annoying cleanup necessary.

I finally had enough and decided to buy a slightly more upscale rice cooker. When I saw this Hamilton Beach model, I knew I had found what I was looking for. After all, Hamilton Beach is a top brand, and I was certain I would enjoy this particular model.

And was I right! Digital controls are simple and the countdown timer is convenient. Washing the various components after use couldn’t be simpler. And, maybe best of all, no more starch, water on my counter!

Did I mention that the rice was perfect? Even better than the rice from my cheapie model. Absolutely delicious.

If I were to make a helpful suggestion to Hamilton Beach, it would be to print the various water levels in white inside the black rice container. Due to low vision, there is no way I can see the markings embossed into the rice container’s metal. I used the traditional Asian method of measuring the water level using the middle knuckle of my index finger, and it worked like a dream. No need to struggle seeing the markings!

I recommend this rice cooker without reservation. I am certain others will be as happy with it as I am.

I do love the ease of use, the rice always comes out perfectly even if it's brown, white, or basmati variety. I was just disappointed in the size. I should have read more carefully that it only cooks 3 cups, which sounded like a lot in my mind but it's barely enough to feed my family for dinner. However, it has a delay timer and that's the main reason I chose this rice cooker, so I can set it in the morning and have fresh rice for dinner. And for that, and quality of cooked rice, it's fantastic! I just wish it held more rice haha

What I love about this is the auto-cook functionality for Rice. It knows when to stop so if you put in too much water it will cook the rice until near-perfect. It does seem to dry out the very bottom where it makes heat contact and I wonder if pop its open mid-cook I could give the rice a stir to prevent this. One thing it does is make wiggly circles on the display rather than tell you "3 mins left to cook". I do understand it is constantly figuring out the "perfect rice" so it is understandable. I LOVE the 2 touch, ON, RICE, or even ON, EGGS and away it goes. Powerful, very good quality, compact just PERFECT!

Once again Amazon is asking for a review long before I really get to experience the product I bought, however I am very impressed with it.
