I can see being used for years
This book may be aimed towards children, but I could see this being a book you keep in your library even as you age up to adulthood. It is well made and the descriptions and information is educational but not “dumbed down” for a child s some things seem to be speaking to children if they are stupidly. This book does not do that. The photos are beautiful and great detail to help children fall in love with learning. The pages are coated so they will last well through multiple reads. I have no doubt that the children in my family will enjoy this for years.

My six grandchildren are all in elementary school and are extremely curious, loving to read “science” books. This set of books, and I bought three in the set, for each group of grandchildren, provides in-depth information, but in a readable fashion, covering my early reader (first grade) without being too easy or too simple for the fifth grader. Highly recommend – kids can read by themselves, but it is also fun to read with and to them. Great information. Period can it be entertaining as well as educational ? This set is.

We love this series, but my daughter specifically loves this book the most. (She loves fish??) It has really high quality images and the edges are shiny like all the DK anthology books.

My 8 year old granddaughter goes to the beach and tide pools often in So California and she connected with this book (and the Nature one in the series) immediately. When I visited for her birthday, 3 of us chose a favorite and painted our own version and learned about that creature. She is a great reader and loves the Aquatic Life Anthology so much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whimsical and lovely book
Reviewed in Canada on September 21, 2024
Other reviews about the “beauty” of this book are accurate. It just feels like a whimsical book with the cloth cover, nice binding, and gold foil.

The content also does not disappoint. The graphic design is ornate and thoughtful; featuring a mixture of realistic illustrations and photography. The aquatic animals featured are a nice cross survey of aquatic/aquatic adjacent animals from across the globe. The editors did a nice job selecting a good range of typical animals (your garden variety whales, sharks and stuff), as well as the more obscure but still accessible options (immortal jellyfish are a thing?! Who knew!)…

My preschooler picks this book up for the pictures, and asks for adults to read the pages. I think there is a lot of longevity with this kind of book, as I suspect it would capture the attention of a child in the lower grades and perhaps beyond.

Bought while on sale for half price, but would honestly pay full price now that I’ve seen it. Will be buying more to add to the collection. Would consider purchasing as a gift, but I can see what other reviews have identified in terms of the corners being vulnerable to damage. If Amazon could find a way to ship these in a manner that reduced the frequency of damage, that would be great.
