    UPDATED Review! 092121
UPDATE 9/21/21: I ordered another camera a couple of weeks ago, it would not hold a charge or turn on automatically when the car started up. Looked online and found out this was a known issue, it has a soldered on battery that craps out. For the price of the mirror, you'd think they would ensure the dang things work. The first mirror I had was not like this which I ordered a couple of years ago. Original review is below. I decided to return the latest one ordered and ask for a replacement. The replacement is doing the same thing and when you remove power the time/date keeps resetting itself to the default factory date. SAVE YOURSELF the frustration, DO NOT GET THIS! It has turned into a piece of junk!ORIGINAL REVIEW:I have had the mirror for less than a week, but it appears to be working fine, I installed in my Smart ForTwo 2016 car because it has some weird blind-spots. The camera came well-packaged, in the box you will find:1) a 12V adapter2) the wires with connectors to attach to the back-up camera.3) the back up camera4) the mirror.5) a very small instruction pamphlet with tiny print and instructions in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Dutch.6) the cable to attach to the 12V with the actual mirror itself.7) rubber straps to attach mirror to the original mirror in your car.You will need to buy a mini-SD Card if you want to be able to save images, get a minimum Class 10 one for video. The mirror is large, almost panoramic and provides a NICE field of vision. Good quality materials, do not look cheap at all. The only thing that is kind of "meh" is the double-sided tape enclosed as an option to attach the back-up camera--it sucks. If you want to use this option, go and buy some better quality 3M adhesive tape.I did not want a bunch of cables hanging so I hardwired my mirror in, if you want to hardwire and have it professionally installed make sure the technician is 12V certified, or if you want to DIY there's a couple of good vids on youtube that explain how to tap into your fuse box on your car. The rear camera was installed by tapping into the power for the reverse lights. As soon as I shift into reverse the backup camera comes on---very nice. This camera has TWO dash cams--front and reverse, both start recording once the car is on and you will see a mini-split screen on the mirror when you first start up indicating this, if the cameras are not recording a small message appears stating video is not on, the time split-screen appears onscreen can be adjusted under "Settings". The images are really clear, nice quality, and switching views is as easy as touching the mirror or tapping my phone screen if the app is on. I have the time the split screen appears on the mirror set at the lowest and then it disappears and it looks like a regular rear view mirror, but it IS still recording. In one of the reviews, someone said the mirror had glare when recording, lmao---if you READ the instructions you will know that the images showing in the mirror disappear based on the settings that YOU SET, so that's a self-inflicted issue if you did not bother to revise the settings. If you download the app, you can actually see on your phone, as you drive what is being recorded. The instruction pamphlet could be a little better, it does have a "wiring diagram" in it, but pretty basic. The touchscreen on the mirror to access the features and settings is very responsive, easy to scroll through and set-up. Since mine is hard wired in, as soon as I start my vehicle the mirror comes on--it has a sound notification letting you know it's on this can be disabled under the settings. Be advised that it DOES record sound, so if you have music playing or are talking it WILL record this sound as part of the video, there are speakers/mic in the mirror. The mirror does require a mini SDcard to store images, it will loop over the oldest image once full to keep recording. The images are stored in separate folders on the card, one for the front camera and one for the rear. You can use the app or the mirror touch screen to very easily scroll through the image album which is sorted by date. If the camera detects an accident, it will lock to prevent the video from being overridden. You can choose how long you want the video clips to be, 1 or 3 minutes. This model does have the parking guidelines that appear when you are backing up, very easy to see, comparable to what was OEM on my other vehicle. The mirror has bluetooth and wifi settings on it, when you first download the app, it will prompt you to connect to the mirror to do the set-up. I read one of the other reviews that stated the app was "too intrusive"...that's hilarious. If you are using any type of internet, your info is already being tracked by browsers, social media, your internet provider, your bank, etc. etc. I found the app to be no more intrusive than those, it DOES ask for your location settings to be on when you connect to the mirror but so does the navigation app that most of us use. All the extra settings on the mirror are OPTIONAL, at any time you can turn off many of them if you find you do not NEED them and you do NOT have to download the app to use the mirror if you are that paranoid, the convenience using the app is the ability to download images easily to your phone. If you opt not to use the app, you'll have to manually remove the SD card to get any images. I had actually researched having the local shop that I used for window tinting our vehicles to see if they could find me a backup cam, they also specialize in doing custom mobile accessories on vehicles, but I found this one first. When I took it to them, the shop owner was very impressed with the level of features this one provides and at this price point (I had an Amazon coupon so my price was even lower).I've included some pics of what it looks like installed for reference points of those considering it and a video of the front and rear recording while on a drive. I'd suggest starting up the camera BEFORE installing it and familiarizing yourself with it so you can be sure it's what you want. Overall, I am pleased with the camera as a dash cam for front and rear and as a back-up. At this price point, it has a lot of bells and whistles, looks nice and sleek, and if it does not work out I can always replace it and not feel bad. The bracket to attach the back-up camera to the car could be better, it's kind of dinky with the cheap adhesive tape it came with, I purchased a license plate mount to hold it on more securely.

You have to place it over a rear view mirror that is thin enough, because if you have one of those bulky ones, you may run into some trouble installing it. It's about double the size of your standard rear view mirror, so you get better coverage. This part is the easiest to install. It's a little bit of a hassle to install the rear view camera, but one you've got everything down, it's great. The maximum GB for Micro SD Card support, if I'm not mistaken, is 64GB, though it may be 32? I don't remember, but it tells you in the product description. You can take it off and place it elsewhere if you need, as it's connected/powered by a USB cable 2.0, like the type older model cellular phones used. You absolutely need a Micro SD card, as the device itself doesn't have internal storage, and won't function without one. It continuously/seamlessly records video, 1 minute and 3 minute loops. You need to wirelessly transfer your clips through Wi-Fi, or by simply removing the SD Card and inserting it into your computer. It's a great tool to own to cover your butt, or someone else's, in any event. For the small price, totally worth it.

Side note: The initial settings have it where when you touch any command via the touchscreen, it makes an annoying loud "BEEP!", so I turned it off in the settings. When I say loud, I mean loud. I believe the initial setup also has the recording loops at 3 minutes; I set mine to a minute.

    Hope this helps you.

Great dash cam that also functions as a traditional rear view mirror. The screen doesn't distract you from using the regular reflective glass to see behind you. Easy to install. Picture quality is very good, especially for the price. My rear lens was not working correctly out of the box and Yi was very quick to respond and send out a replacement unit. Only negative I can think of is the unit is quite long and in my '99 Cherokee I can no longer use the visors properly since it hits the camera. No worries! Sunglasses and a strip of tint at the top of the windshield fixed this issue.

I got this due to 3 close calls recently, and just got back from a 1,400 mile trip (no accidents) and it worked fine (recorded everything). I hope this helps you - some things to think about as its ok, but not perfect:

    Pros:
    - easy to install (front camera took maybe 10 minutes with some plastic tools; rear camera took about 45 minutes due to drilling)
    - video is decent quality forward, ok in reverse (much less field of view reverse)
    - not expensive
    - seems to be reasonable quality (packaging is very apple-esque)
    - night mode is decent forward, practically useless in back camera due to lights and glare, but if someone rear-ended you, you would get their license plate.
    - has picture in picture for rear and front on mirror, but records the front and rear separately (nice feature)

    Cons:
    - the mirror is large and in my car blocks the sun visors for both passenger and driver (you have to either pull them out, or not put them all the way back)
    - the camera is fixed - in my car, for me to use the mirror, it is pointed to the right, so you lose a lot of field of view on the left. See pic. Also, the lens is wide angle and severely distorts what is seen
    - you cannot flip the mirror angle at night to reduce glare, and my car sits fairly low, so glare is an issue
    - the wireless connection is slow as molasses, takes over 1.5 minutes to download a single 1 minute video
    - the external card slot is fidgety and it was hard for me to get the card in the slot (also, no markings, so it took like 3 tries)
    - no battery, so only on when my car is on
    - the strap hold downs are rubber and no doubt if left in the sun will dry up and break eventually
    - the external card slot is on the top, and hard to get to to remove if you need to (should be on the side)
    - you cannot set the sound volume (and its rather loud) but you can disable sound
    - the rear camera attaches with screws and requires drilling (but probably the case with all such cameras)
    - the mirror jiggles a lot more than the OEM mirror, and with windows down, it jiggles a lot due to airflow (not sure this would work in like a convertible)

It would be a 4.5 star review if: the mirror were not so large, the front camera was adjustable to point forward, and the sd card slot was on a side and much, much easier to get the card into and out of. It would be a 5 star if you could still adjust the angle of the mirror at nite to reduce glare from headlights behind you (which is the main thing I did not think about and is hard for me due to my eyesight at nite being great)

Finally, tip if you have a Honda Civic Hybrid (the rear seat does not fold down because of the batteries). I could not find a good install video - but if you run the cable to the top of the back seat, there is a baby seat strap latch - if you lift that up, there is literally a space to the trunk - you can run the cable right into the trunk, no cutting or drilling there at all!
