This knife is the perfect size and is super sharp. I did just open it and have only used it once to chop potatoes, but for now, I am elated. This knife has its own sharpener so I didn’t have to purchase an extra sharpener on top of the knife. I like that the handle is comfortable in my hand. The knife is not heavy, but seems to be durable. The price was great for the product. So far, it seems to be sturdy. I think if you hand wash this and make sure it is dry, you won’t have to worry about it rusting. I will keep using this and update my review if I find any cons to describe. For now, I am very happy with this purchase.

Yeah so it pays to read. I ordered 2 of these knives keeping my expectations low based off some of the front page reviews.

Upon opening the knife I was a tad bit disappointed that it was not ceramic but again that was my fault in thinking that it was but this knife is so cheap, it wasn't worth the trouble in sending it back. So I used it anyway.

As much as I wanted to hate this knife, I couldn't, surprised me really. Although it's not as sharp as it could be after a full year of me using it, it's still my main go to all purpose knife. I haven't correctly tested the self sharpening sheath to see if it would make a difference but the knife has been working so well I've never really felt the need to do it. But let's be realistic, you're not going to sharpen a knife by casually taking it out of it's sheath, takes more work then that! I'll maybe update this once I get around to it.

So yeah, it's a knife and for me it has done a pretty good job so far. Is it the best? Of course not. Cheapest around? You bet. I definitely recommend this there's really nothing to lose but a couple of bucks and hopefully not any fingers.

I would like to start by simply saying, you get what you pay for.

I am a knife/blade collector, I collect any kinds of blades, whether it be knives, swords, machetes, axes, so I know a good blade when I see/use one. First off, the metal used for this cleaver is very weak. So weak in fact that when I put it in the sheath and took it back out, it got stuck on part of the plastic and it took the edge off that part of the blade. Plastic shouldn't bend or chip metal ever. The cleaver is not very heavy, so if you plan on using this cleaver rather than it being a display piece, save yourself the hassle and get something worth chopping with.
As for this not being safe, there are two concerns/observations. First, all around the cleaver where the blade IS NOT, is sharp, like every machined edge is sharp enough to cut yourself on if you arent careful or if your hand slips. Not as sharp as the blade itself, but still something to be aware of. The second safety issue is the positioning of the handle relative to the blade. Its almost like the handle is formed and angled in the perfect way for someone to cut themselves. What I mean by this is when I first held the cleaver, I had uncurled my middle finger(aka extended it out to where its not around the handle) and when I was bringing my finger back to the position around the handle, my finger hit the blade and cut it. Luckily it didn't go deep, but I guarantee it easily could have.

Overall, only buy this if you either are going to use it for display or if you want a garbage kitchen tool. The only good thing I can say is that it comes sharp enough to shave hair off my arm.
